My name is Norman Achneepineskum. I am Anishinabe originally from Northern Ontario. I am from Ojibway and Cree parents. I grew up on the Pays Plat Reserve near Thunder Bay. I was fortunate to have been raised by good parents. They taught me important values of life, all by way of being and through our Anishinaabeg language. With time, I realized that all our instructions to life are in the meanings of the words that were given to us by the Great Creator.
I moved into the Montreal area in 1992 when I was 24 years old in search of a new life. For over 20 years, I am a craftsman, a writer, a poet, a storyteller, a handyman and an artist-painter. I am a powwow singer and songwriter of powwow songs. I am the lead singer and drum carrier for the Buffalo Hat Singers. We participate in numerous events in Montreal, Sherbrooke, Quebec City, Gatineau and many other communities, towns and cities within. I love singing and I love people.
